During the summer of 2016, I was hired as a promotion intern at Hubbard Radio in Chicago for the 101.9 WTMX and 100.3 WSHE sectors. During this internship, I learned how to set up events, run events, conduct analysis of events, work with a team and the list can go on. One major skill that I gained was to think and act on my feet. When on locations, myself or my coworker and I were the one in charge to communicate for the radio station, to the event coordinators and clients that were partnering with us. When something went wrong, it was up to us to find a solution and quick.
For instance, if an event did not know we were coming, I would have to come up with a plan that could work for everyone (find a spot, figure out what we can and cannot do and so on).
After the internship experience, I was 2 of the 6 interns that were hired for a position in the fall months. I still worked on the same events but now I had more responsibility and was not just an intern. This experience shaped how I thought and acted out on location and during problems. It helped shape me into a leader that would jump right into the problem to find a solution. I strengthen my qualities and skills to work with clients, different departments and with my team.
